Institute of Contemporary Art, 2014 ICA Auction, San Jose, CA

Terry Kreiter  sculpture

I’ve been contributing sculpture to the ICA annual auction - Institute of Contemporary Art, San Jose, CA, for over 30 years. I create a new sculpture each year specifically for the auction.

Artist note: The tragedies in this Trilogy are: Water, Oil, and Gold.

Below are images to show the progression of the sculpture

Title: Trilogy, 2014, 10 x 17 x 5 inches, Unique cast and fabricated bronze with stone. Artist signature includes -- ICA

Early sketch for Trilogy, original drawings shows vertical tower. Artist sketchbook #26-2014

Later sketches show the final decision to make the tower horizontal. Artist sketchbook #26-2014

Wax pattern altered with Photoshop in order to explore the composition.

Wax patterns with their appropriate flasks, ready to invest with refractory plaster. Artist note: The parts are cast in individual pieces, for this sculpture there were 15 pieces cast.
